Pang Xianpo, born in 1966, is the representative inheritor of Rubbing Art, an intangible cultural heritage project of Shijingshan District, Beijing. He has been obsessed with painting and calligraphy since childhood and devoted himself to epigraphy and seal carving with solid basic skills. He studied traditional Chinese painting under Professor Han Zhengang at Capital Normal University, and further pursued advanced learning under renowned painter Wang Bingfu. He has attained profound artistic attainments in calligraphy, painting and seal carving.
庞献坡，1966 年出生，北京市石景山区非物质文化遗产传拓艺术代表性传承人。自幼痴迷书画艺术，潜心钻研金石篆刻，基本功底扎实深厚。早年就读于首都师范大学，师从韩振刚教授研习中国画，后拜入国画名家王秉复门下深造，在书法、绘画、篆刻领域均具备极高艺术修养与专业造诣。
Over the past decade, Pang Xianpo has concentrated on the research of stone inscriptions and rubbing techniques. He learned orthodox ancient rubbing craftsmanship systematically from masters Wang Jun and Li Xujie, mastering exquisite and proficient operational skills. Adhering to the principle of inheriting tradition and pursuing innovation, he retains the essence of classic rubbing art and explores technical reform. His newly developed rubbing methods endow this ancient art with brand-new artistic charm and contemporary vitality.
十余年间，庞献坡专注金石碑帖考据研究与传拓技艺打磨，先后拜王均、李续杰两位业内名家为师，系统习得正统古法传拓技艺，实操手法精湛娴熟。他秉持守正创新的创作思路，坚守传统拓印工艺精髓，同时不断探索技法革新，研发新式拓制手法，让古朴的传拓艺术焕发崭新艺术风貌与时代活力。
Throughout his career, he has undertaken numerous rubbing projects of stone steles and inscriptions in Chaoyang District and Shijingshan District of Beijing. He has completed professional rubbing work of stone tablets, horizontal inscribed boards and cultural relics for well-known cultural venues including Soong Ching-ling Memorial Hall, Tianning Temple, Dongyue Temple, Badachu Park and Horizontal Inscribed Board Museum. His works feature high fidelity and are widely acknowledged for superb craftsmanship.
从业以来，他承接多地石刻碑志拓印项目，圆满完成北京朝阳区、石景山区各类古碑石刻拓制工作。先后为宋庆龄纪念馆、天宁寺、东岳庙、八大处、匾额博物馆等知名文博场馆，完成碑刻、牌匾、石刻文物的全套专业拓制作业，作品还原度高，工艺水准广受业内认可。
Pang Xianpo sticks to the original aspiration of intangible heritage inheritance and actively popularizes rubbing culture. He regularly delivers public courses in primary and secondary schools to teach professional knowledge and practical skills. He also takes part in various heritage exhibitions and art shows, spreading ancient craftsmanship through on-site teaching and artwork display. He devotes himself to the sustainable inheritance of traditional culture. Meanwhile, he participates in external cultural presentations, taking distinctive intangible heritage as a bridge to facilitate artistic exchanges and mutual learning between China and foreign countries, promoting the overseas spread of traditional Chinese culture.

Centered on traditional rubbing craftsmanship, this series combines the charm of painting and calligraphy with the elegant shape of round fans. It breaks the rigid form of traditional rubbings. Rubbings are mounted on fans and matched with calligraphy and paintings, carrying traditional art and inheriting cultural charm.
本系列作品以传统传拓技艺为核心，融合书画笔墨意蕴与团扇形制之美，打破传统拓片单一、制式化的呈现形式。将拓片粘附在团扇之上，配以书法字画进行融合，以扇载艺、以拓传韵。
2. Zodiac Blessing Calligraphy/生肖福系列书法作品

Fish rubbing is an ancient and unique Chinese natural printing art. Adopting classic techniques, the works restore scales, body lines and natural postures of real fish, perfectly presenting vivid natural charm.

4. Traditional lacquer fan/传统漆扇

This series is created by Pang Xianbo, District-level Representative Inheritor of the Chuan Tuo (stone rubbing) intangible cultural heritage project in Beijing’s Shijingshan District. It combines traditional lacquer craftsmanship with fan-making, using natural lacquer to hand-finish each fan surface. The works balance functionality and artistic collectibility, showcasing the delicate techniques and Eastern aesthetics of traditional Chinese lacquer art.”

During the visit, diplomats toured iconic sites such as Blast Furnace No. 3, Blast Furnace No.1 · SoReal Sci-Fi Park, and RE · International Memory Museum. They witnessed Shougang’s transformation from an “industrial rust belt” to an “urban showpiece”, and appreciated the integration of industrial heritage, technological innovation and cultural creativity. Traditional intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and creative products were also showcased, facilitating cultural and economic exchanges between China and foreign countries.

Since 2021, Pang Xianbo has been invited to deliver stone rubbing courses at Paochang Primary School, Shijingshan District, Beijing. He teaches students to make rubbings of Han dynasty bricks, tile ends and simulated ancient fossils. Integrating calligraphy, history and archaeology, the courses pass down traditional Chinese craftsmanship through hands-on practice.

On May 24, 2024, relevant activities of the opening ceremony of Beijing Inbound Tourism Development Conference were held. Sima Hong, Vice Mayor of Beijing Municipal People’s Government, and Terry Lee Dale, President of American Tour Operators Association, delivered speeches at the ceremony. The event gathered over 260 attendees including hundreds of global travel dealers, representatives of cultural and tourism authorities, tourism enterprises, industrial associations, overseas tourism offices in China and media personnel.

On June 28, 2024, attended the 2024 Diplomat-in-China event Discover the Beauty of China · Hello Beijing hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Zhang Zheng, Vice Minister of the ministry, Yang Shuo, Director of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and Yang Beibei, Deputy District Chief of Chaoyang District were present. More than 40 diplomats and cultural tourism representatives from 24 countries participated in the activity.
