Li, Quansong: new-generation inheritor of intangible cultural heritage batik

Li Quansong, of the Buyi ethnic group and a native of Anshun, Guizhou, is a new-generation inheritor of intangible cultural heritage batik. He currently serves as a designer at Guizhou Danzhai Ninghang Batik, and Vice President of Danzhai Batik Protection and Development Association.
李全松,布依族,贵州安顺人,新生代蜡染非遗传承人,现任贵州丹寨宁航蜡染设计师,丹寨县蜡染保护发展协会副会长。

Immersed in the folk culture of southwest ethnic minorities from an early age, he specializes in traditional Miao and Buyi batik techniques, with solid professional attainments in modern graphic design. He is a outstanding young inheritor committed to the innovation and revitalization of intangible cultural heritage.
自幼深受西南少数民族文化熏陶,深耕苗族、布依族传统蜡染技艺,兼具专业平面设计功底,是非遗技艺创新发展的青年代表。

He is proficient in the full set of ancient batik procedures, including wax melting, hand drawing, repeated dyeing, rinsing and color fixing. He is adept at integrating traditional ethnic totems, ancient myths, local landscape patterns with contemporary aesthetic concepts to break the creative boundaries of traditional batik. His works perfectly combine profound ethnic cultural heritage with modern artistic beauty, realizing the youthful and fashionable expression of traditional intangible cultural heritage.
技艺创作上,他熟练掌握熔蜡、绘图、浸染、漂洗等全套古法蜡染工序,擅长将民族图腾、上古神话、地域山水传统纹样,与现代艺术审美相融重构,突破传统创作边界,打造兼具民族底蕴与当代美感的蜡染作品。


He has won numerous provincial professional awards in his career. His representative work Impression of Old Street won the Gold Award of Guizhou Batik Competition, and many of his works have been rated as excellent provincial intangible cultural heritage works. Dedicated to the innovation and industrialization of batik craftsmanship, he has participated in the research and development of batik patents, optimized traditional techniques, and popularized traditional batik art among the public. He also actively engages in the protection, inheritance and teaching of local batik culture to promote the living inheritance of intangible cultural heritage.
从业以来斩获多项专业成果,代表作《老街・印象》荣获贵州省蜡染金奖,多件作品在省级赛事中获评优秀。他创新融合古今风格打造出圈作品,助力传统蜡染走进大众视野,同时参与蜡染相关专利研发,推动非遗技艺产业化发展,积极投身本地蜡染保护传承工作。


To expand the influence of traditional batik, he frequently participates in intangible cultural heritage exhibitions across the country. His works have been displayed in professional platforms including the Shanghai Batik Art Exhibition, fully presenting the unique artistic charm of Guizhou batik. Meanwhile, he popularizes batik craftsmanship and ethnic folk culture through live streaming and cultural-tourism cross-border cooperation, spreading traditional folk art in diverse ways.
为拓宽非遗传播边界,他频繁参与各地文化展会,作品亮相上海蜡染艺术展等诸多平台,向外展示贵州蜡染独特魅力。同时依托线上直播讲解工艺知识,联动文旅行业开展跨界交流,多渠道普及非遗文化。

His masterpieces include Dong Village Under the Moon integrating local customs and artistic innovation, the epic long batik scroll Ancient Songs of the Miao People, myth-themed works Ying Dragon, Chiyou andMother Butterfly, as well as the traditional Chinese style creative work Phoenix Nirvana. Adhering to traditional craftsmanship and empowering heritage with modern design, he keeps promoting the inheritance, innovation and popularization of Guizhou traditional batik art.
经典代表作品有融合异域艺术与乡土风情的《月下侗寨》,史诗长篇蜡染画卷《苗族古歌》,还有《应龙》《蚩尤》《蝴蝶妈妈》等神话主题作品,以及《凤凰涅槃》等国风创意蜡染佳作。他坚守传统根基,以现代设计赋能非遗,全力推动贵州蜡染技艺长久传承与广泛传播。

Centered on the creation epic of the Miao ethnic group and based on ancient batik techniques, the work condenses ethnic migration, ancestral wisdom and nature worship into indigo patterns. It reproduces mythological scenes with totem lines, awakens ethnic cultural memories through traditional craftsmanship, presents the thousand-year-old epic on fabrics, adheres to cultural roots, and endows intangible cultural heritage with contemporary expression.
作品以苗族创世史诗为核心,以古法蜡染为载体,将民族迁徙、祖先智慧与自然崇拜凝于靛蓝纹样之中。通过图腾化线条复刻经典神话场景,依托传统工艺唤醒民族文化记忆,让千年民族史诗在织物上流转呈现,坚守文化根脉,为传统非遗赋予全新的当代表达。

Breaking Cocoon into Butterfly/破茧成蝶

Centered on cicada pupa and butterfly wing patterns, the work pays tribute to the classic Miao totem culture of “Butterfly Mother”. By adopting the ancient indigo repeated dyeing technique, it symbolizes the growth of life through constant tempering, conveys the inheritance power of intangible heritage craftsmanship, and interprets the profound life philosophy of breaking free from shackles and blooming through transformation.
作品以蝉蛹与蝶翼纹样为核心,致敬苗族经典“蝴蝶妈妈”图腾文化。借助蓝靛反复浸染的古法工艺,隐喻生命历经淬炼、不断成长的过程,传递非遗技艺的传承力量,深刻诠释挣脱束缚、突破自我、蜕变绽放的生命哲思。
